POV 2
Narco corridos are also seen as a different part of the entire narco culture. Narco corridos are very popular in Mexico, even though they have been banned from the televisions and radios. The narco corridos lyrics usually consist of glorifying the warring violence, drug wars, women, the ‘bling,’ money, drugs, and weapons ('Narcocorridos,' the popular Latin music styled after American hip hop, bring about bloodshed and Grammy wins). Some people believe that narco corridos are bad not only to the listeners, but also to the singers themselves because some narcocorrido singers get paid to sing at the narcos’ private parties. These performances make them a target for the narcos’ rivals (Angeles, 2010). The narco corrido singers put themselves in danger of getting killed by the opposing cartel. Even though the singers run that risk they still continue to do what they love. Some people see narco corridos in a good way because they are songs about glorifying their heroes. Everyone connects narco corridos with the narcos that in Mexico every time there is a homicide a narcocorrido plays on the police walkie talkie (La Narco Cultura Documentary).
