POV 3
This view on drug cartels varies depending on where you live. If you live in Mexico or are government officials then you might believe drug cartels are helpful to people rather than dangerous. On the other hand, if you live in the United States, or belong to victims’ families then you might believe that drug cartels are dangerous to everyone. Government officials turn their heads and act blind to the fact that there are illegal underground drug trades. Many Latin American officials profit from illegal substances being trafficked (Corruption, Drug Trafficking and the Armed Forces). For example, In the case of Jesus Malverde who is also called the “narco-saint”. He is known as the narco-saint because theres a legend in Mexico that Jesus Malverde never actually existed only because there is no official documentation of him. The people who say that are the ones who have never witnessed a miracle from him. People frequently pray to him and ask him for favors or for protection in a drug trade. He is idolized in Sinaloa because he is seen as the drug saint and is said to keep the drug smugglers safe on their drug journey. Because of him robbing from the rich and giving it back to the poor people saw him as Robin Hood (Las Baladas Prohibidas).
